It seeks to promote a culture of high performance and rewarding those who excel.

The Group seeks to hire, motivate and retain people who demonstrate its values and are passionate about making a difference to the Group’s business and the communities in which the Group lives and works. Sierra Rutile employ people on the basis of job requirements and do not discriminate on grounds of age, ethnic or social origin, gender, sexual orientation, politics, religion, disability or any other status. Sierra Rutile is pleased that in excess of 90% of its total workforce continues to comprise Sierra Leonean nationals, and this workforce will further benefit with a succession programme to ensure the transfer of specialist skills from the expatriates.

The Group has a structured training programme for its permanent employees covering on-the-job, classroom based training for its high performance employees, providing a platform for systematic and rapid transfer of knowledge and skills to Sierra Leoneans. In 2015, the Group spent $0.2 million in workforce training and development, reflecting Sierra Rutile’s commitment to skills transfer and development, for the benefit of not only Sierra Rutile, but also to help build national capacity to underpin the development of Sierra Leone.
